We are being fed the lie
that individualism is the pinnacle
of human development.
Christ certainly did not believe that.

Competitive greed is not a natural part of human nature.

Do not be conformed to the ways of the world,
the fashions of the hour.
The ways of God transcends
the ways of any society,
culture or age.

To be a Christian means we must live
a life of resistance – resistance to sin,
compulsions, despair, injustice,
and the lies of popular culture.
To be a Christian, we must soak up
the grace that liberates us
from everything that holds us back
from unity with God.

We are prisoners of consumerism.

When my priorities revolve around
money and consumption,
I have no time to be
available to others – or God – and it will be
impossible to live a life of
surrender and service,
which is to say the life of
a Christian.

Simplicity is the key to unraveling
the complexities of modern life.

    Ahhhh. Lovely.

Went to a one hour advent meditation with the Carmelites on Monday evening brain, candles, moms singing, gentle verbal meditations. Just what I needed. Simplicity….
