Pure Gift

The kingdom of heaven is an experience we can have now, if we are willing to make the effort to discover it. It is not a place we are going to nor is it a reward for being good.

The disease of affluence has a number of symptoms: diminishing joy, magnification of problems, rising discontent, increasing depression. Joy over the wonder of our very being is totally absent.

Our consumer culture is dedicated to shallowness and distraction.

Prayer changes the pattern of the way we interact with the world.

Prayer is more than a consumer activity…asking for things we want.

Prayer lifts us up. But prayer is not about softening the edge of our discontent.

In prayer we offer our very selves to God. Prayer is the gift of self. Prayer recognizes that your life is pure gift, and the purpose of the gift is to give ourselves back to God and to each other. Prayer is a channel of self-giving.
