Thoughts and Words

Life always has been and continues to be a paradox: every human being is rich, and every human being is poor. How we live boils down to a matter of point of view…how we see ourselves and how we see others.

Our thoughts and words are a powerful force in our lives, and in the lives of those we encounter; they can be a force for healing or hurting, for building or destroying. Our thoughts and words can be a source of resurrection or they can cause a crucifixion, both for us and others. Our thoughts and words can create and they can kill. And we determine the outcome.

The day you come to know, believe and accept that you are a beloved child of God is the day you begin to live in true freedom, beyond all praise and blame. On that day, no one else can define, manipulate or control you, because your true identity is rooted in God and cannot be taken from you. I am a child of God; I am free. Free to love and to be loved.

What a powerful and disarming concept to try to incorporate in my life. To become powerful by letting go of so much we think is important in order to serve others must be liberating. I have to try to remember each day that my first identity is as “a child of God.”
