Thoughts Scribbled While Doing Other Things (5)

The more you pray, the more you will become poor, plain and empty. And ready for God.

Prayer consists of becoming aware.

We experience God’s love in proportion to our experience of our own weakness.

Day in and day out, God the divine Sower liberally plants seeds in the soil of our lives. Prayer tills the soil, making it receptive to the flowering power of the seed.

But far too often the soil is hardened by sin, worries and an unhealthy preoccupation with money, power and success, and so the seed is trampled on or blown away.

We talk a lot about love, but the concrete experience of love is a rare thing indeed. We claim God’s love created the earth and that same love appeared on earth in Christ. But we do not see it or feel it. God’s love goes unnoticed.

To make visible the hidden love of God, to feel more intensely the inexpressible marvel of God, we need to spend time in prayer and time with the poor.

Because each of us is a child of God, each of us possesses the eminent dignity of a child of God.

Divine mercy is incarnated in human weakness.
