The Flame of Love

The Flame of Love

When I deliberately put my whim
before the will of God by sinning,
I get depressed over my failure to love
and subsequently my prayer life suffers.
But there is no reason for despair,
because God’s mercy is boundless.

Sin blows out the flame of love for God
but God’s mercy and forgiveness sets it aflame again.

God hates sin because of the harm it does to us,
but it is impossible for God to hate us for our sins
because the essence of the Divine Being is merciful love.

God’s mercy is without limit.
